Double or Nothing 2025, Saturday Night’s Main Event, Goonies, and Snack Foods!

Double or Nothing 2025

It’s rare indeed when there’s a wrestling show with a main event where I don’t go in ahead of time knowing what the outcome will be, but such is the case with tonight’s Double of Nothing. It all comes down to this: who does Tony Khan believe should be the man to finally, FINALLY end the reign of terror of Jon Moxley and bring the world title back to the good guys. Will Ospreay is currently my favorite wrestler, and honestly, no one else is even close. That said, I can see why the decision may be for Hangman; he’s an AEW original, so it would be arguably a better story for him to be the guy. Also, it would set the door of Ospreay to get a title match at Forbidden Door in London and win it all there. I’m still of the mind to get the belt on him asap as I honestly don’t know how long his body is going to hold out doing matches that tough. Regardless, it’s very cool to go into this show not knowing who’s going to win. I’ll be on old man social (ie, my Facebook page) covering it live, so yeah, join the fun there. In the meantime, let’s answer some questions!

Arya W kicks us off with…”Did AEW drop the ball by not turning Rampage into an all-women’s show? Especially after Collision debuted and Rampage really became a show “just for the sickos””

I don’t think Rampage ever had any hope of being a long-term properly, and once Collision showed up it it was doomed either way. It was just too much to attempt to follow. While an all-women’s show would have been interesting, I think that when it failed, the industry would have blamed it being the women instead of just a case of excess content. I am still waiting for an all LUCHA version of an AEW show. They have plenty of talent just sitting around and could easily make it happen. I’d want to see that far more than a dedicated ROH show. Who’s with me?

Dustin N ponders…”How have the Colossal Kongs not been inducted yet?”

Honestly, I completely forget ever existed. If anyone can get me some content links in the comments below, I will add them to the list though.

Joseph wants to know…”Did you watch the first Saturday Night’s Main Event? I did not see the show until 87, but my first episode helped hook me on wrestling at a young age (Macho-Honky with the Mega Powers formation)”

I did, yes, but it wasn’t what hooked me on that series. The first SNME that really got me would have been the one with Jesse getting into the ring with Roddy Piper and Cowboy Bob, as well as a GREAT match with Hulk Hogan battling Terry Funk. Pretty sure that was like the fourth one and it was awesome, still one of my all time favorites.

Erik B asks…”What is the worst match that had the most hype ever besides Goldberg vs Brock 1?”

I’ll see you Warrior-Hogan 2. Feel free to PayPal me my winnings. Or just send me some random donations, I won’t complain.

Aaron M queries…”How has the music video for Cyndi Lauper’s “The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough?” largely been forgotten and is not remembered fondly as the quirky snapshot of the rock-n-wrestling connection era it is?”

I mean, I did my part! I still love that ridiculous thing…

…especially in its full extended cut, which is the only way it should be viewed.

Mike M puzzles us with…”Will you attempt to watch Real American Freestyle?”

Provided it ever makes it to actual air, of course. I’m a glutton for punishment and can’t wait to hear new Hulk Hogan tall tales.

Jeffery W wants to know…”Could Battlebowl be a thing that’s brought back but actually works? Seems like it could be a way to really advance storylines, make some odd couple tag teams and still have an entertaining event.”

Meaning like real, actual random draws for matches? I can’t see that ever happening today as so much of the talent in the business was brought up with rehearsed matches. Plus I don’t think most fans would notice (or care) that it’s legitimately random.

We finish up with the most pressing question, courtesy of Ralph A…”I am asking you once again, what is your snack lineup for Double or Nothing”

Not sure what I’ll be chowing on (although I just discoverd Grippo’s BBQ and Cheddar puffs and they are incredible), but I have at least one glass bottle of Mexican Coke to keep me caffeinated long enough to last through the night. Not sure it’s the absolute BEST Coca-Cola (McDonald’s on tap is always awesome), but it’s definitely near the top with that pure cane sugary goodness.

That’s enough for this week…see y’all later tonight!
