What a match up we have here today – big ol’ Scott Norton taking on El Dandy! That’s a WCW special if I ever heard one, as they loved to just throw random dude out there against random dude and you’d get stuff like this all the time.
No doubt you all remember El Dandy, right? Jam up guy for sure. At least that’s the story according to Bret Hart. And we all know you can always trust Bret!
Norton was a powerhouse, a guy who made his name in arm wrestling of all things. See, he’d beat his opponents quickly, flash them if you will, hence his nickname. What, you thought he was a perv or something? OH! I should also note Norton is on the left in the photo above, just in case you were confused.
The bout begins and Dandy attempts to use his speed, only for Norton to corral him and nonchalantly bounce his head off the mat like a basketball.
Dandy comes back with a dropkick to…something…and a pair of hard slaps. Norton shrugs those off and just punches Dandy right in the gall darned face.
A back body drop follows, one in which Dandy nearly lands right on top of his head. Not sure if there was a communication issue or what but that almost ended in tragedy.
At this point Norton is just playing with the guy and throws him out so Virgil can lay some shots in. Sadly, Virgil is so ineffective he doesn’t even do that right and instead just tosses him right back in the ring.
A headbutt kinda sorta hits, but then we get the highlight of the match, as Norton picks Dandy up for a suplex only to just throw him over his back instead. That looks like dare I say Steiner-iffic!
Playtime’s over as Norton hercs his foe up for a mighty powerbomb. Woof. Never thought I’d say this, but sorry Bret – I think after that showing I’m definitely going to start doubting El Dandy!
