Yes kids, that subject line ain’t lying – once upon a time, the Big Show actually took on the Brooklyn Brawler in a match. And the result was exactly what you’d expect.

I saw this hit my inbox and I was like, “I thought Brawler was long gone by like 92, tops.” But here he is on Sunday Night Heat making his way to the ring. And it’s weird – he somehow looks younger here than he did when he was Bobby Heenan’s flunky battling the likes of the Red Rooser.

Show makes his way to the ring and if you had any question as to when this event was, that big ol’ punchy hand should give you a clue. Who else loved the SMACKDOWN FIST? That thing was awesome and a perfect product of the time.

Match starts, and Show is like, “I’m facing Steve Lombardi, I can just wave to the people because he’s a geek.” But said geek does attack and hits the big guy from behind and immediately starts beating the life out of the poor guy.

Lombardi winds up outside the ring, and Show follows him right out, elbowing him and punching him the face. Good thing for Lombardi this wasn’t a few years later – that right hand would wind up as Show’s finisher!

But the Brawler catches Show coming in, and crotches him on the top rope. Lombardi unloads with the fisticuffs only for Show to look at him like “are you serious bro?”

Brawler bounces off the ropes right into a Show clothesline. He then corrals him into corner before hitting him with WELL, IT’S A BIG CHOKESLAM for the finish. I mean, I don’t know that’s what it was called but it should have been. Anyway, one thing I’ve been noticing of late is that Sunday Night Heat is chockful of utterly random matches like this.
