Ah El Gigante, how I’ve missed you ’round these parts. It’s been too long my friend, so let’s see what you have for us today from the dusty bins of a 1991 WCW Main Event taping!
Just watching the big galoot come down to the ring begs so many questions, starting with why did the brain trust in this company determine that his best possible ring attire would be a sparkly salmon-colored tank top? Did they just have a spare tablecloth in the back they had the poor seamstress sew together like 90 seconds before he come out or what?

And then there’s his poor opponent today, one “Scrap Iron” Bill Ford, whose face we don’t even see. No wonder WWE decided they needed a training center so that folks would know where to play to the hard cam.

It’s kind of amazing that even when he’s “warming up” before the match he seems completely confused. This is the kinda stuff we need from the WWE Vault, to get us footage of the gorilla position and see the sage wisdom given to Gonzalez backstage. “Slap those big hamhocks together and look real mean!” I bet he was told. Anyway, he delivers a kick kinda sorta to Ford’s chest and the party begins.
He follows that up with a, well, gigante body slam. Mad props to Missy Hyatt on commentary who notes that the guys was probably getting a nose bleed being up that high.

The finish comes immediately afterwards as Ford is whipped into the ropes and meets El Claw on the way back. Missy notes his hands are so big you can’t even see the guy’s bald spot! The world really needed more El Gigante squashes…and more Missy on commentary!
