Some of you may be too young to remember, but before you could just tap your phone on a little device to pay for things or use credit cards, you used personal paper checks to make large purposes. You’d write who you were paying, the amount, and sign it. Then the person or company receiving the check would take it to the bank, deposit it or cash it. Seems quaint now, but some people liked to have fancy checks with pictures on them. This included the WWF as they sold checks featured for favorite Superstars and their disembodied heads.
Seems in poor taste to pay your rent or groceries with the Undertaker giving you a death stare or a grimacing Steve Austin, but the 90’s were a wild time. They even came with snazzy check holders so people waiting behind you in line knew your banked at the WWF Smackdown Savings & Loan.
