So between New Japan having it’s first live show in the United States and Bullet Club Merch selling like hotcakes at Hot Topic it’s been a pretty good year for New Japan.

But the company’s success in the United States wasn’t always a sure thing and AXS’s first commercial for the product was certainly unique if anything else.

Check out the random cow, cartoon birds, Adam West Batman sound effects, and a color scheme that looks like a Trappper Keeper from 1991.

The narrator sounds like the guy from “Monster Mash”.

I don’t think Undertaker would’ve gotten over if the screen had gone “Ga-Plonk!” for his Tombstone Piledriver.

I remember these… I didn’t want to tell anyone I watched NJPW on AXS because of these stupid commercials, they kind of reminded me of when MMPR reruns were being branded as “new” with the comic book transitions and POW balloons for every strong hit.

But when some people did want to talk about it, I would definitely chat with them… I still feel a bit awkward when I have to mention that I’m watching on AXS though

Yeah, the “gong” sound effect at the end … no one at AXs thought that might be in poor taste?
