East Rutherford, NJ – WWE fans have responded moderately to Seth Rollins’ surprise championship win at SummerSlam this past Saturday.
Rollins, who had been faking an injury for the past few weeks, made a surprise appearance after CM Punk’s win over Gunther. The “Visionary” cashed in his Money In The Bank contract, defeating Punk and becoming new World Heavyweight Champion.
While WWE expected strong negative and positive reactions, fans have been mostly muted in their response.
“It’s okay, I guess,” said longtime fan Alyssa Plummer.
“So they took the belt of Jey so that CM Punk could take it off Gunther so that Rollins could take it off Punk? Alright,” shrugged SummerSlam attendee Samir Basrawla.
“It’s a thing that happened,” said 8-year-old Jaxon Mahavolich.
Experts believe that the surprise win is the start of WWE’s new “Eh, Whatever” era.
While this new version of the company has some concerned, executives remain satisfied with the number of fans still willing to pay high prices, regardless of quality or outcome.
