Los Angeles, CA – WWE shocked fans and wrestlers alike this past Saturday after firing several wrestlers in the middle of their matches at Money In The Bank.
Over the past few weeks, the company, owned and operated by TKO Group Holdings, has made surprising releases of well-liked performers like Carlito and Sonya Deville. Citing budget cuts and other vague reasons, the multi-billion-dollar company’s culling of the roster has been viewed as ruthless by many inside and outside the business.
Fans attending WWE’s premium live event were confused when Women’s Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria was kicked out of her own match with Becky Lynch with no explanation. The puzzlement continued later on when Triple H himself walked down to the ring, whispered in Roxanne Perez’s and Giulia’s ears and they left the ring.
The final straw was during the men’s Money In The Bank match. Several members of the TKO board removed all the ladders, tables, and chairs from ringside. They also physically picked up El Grande Americano and tossed him in a dumpster by the side of the stage.
Despite each match being ruined, the company reported that this was the highest grossing event in WWE’s history.
While fans have expressed their great displeasure at the firings, even more fans are upset that Logan Paul remains employed with the company.
