Riyadh, SA – Officials from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have announced that they will be hiring wrestling superfan Green Shirt Guy to attend Wrestlemania 43.
The announcement, made this past weekend, follows the country’s latest push into sport’s entertainment. The hire, which is said to have been a direct ask from the de facto ruler of the country Mohammed bin Salman, is seen as a way to further legitimize the first Wrestlemania held outside North America.
“Mr. Green Shirt Guy is an integral part of WWE and of Wrestlemania,” said Saudi Arabia Royal Court advisor Turki Alalshikh.
WWE is fully behind the move.
“How is it a Wrestlemania without Green Shirt Guy?” said WWE Chief Content Officer Paul Levesque. “I wouldn’t be surprised if we also see Brock Lesnar Guy, Sign Guy, and maybe even get Vladimir out of retirement in Saudi Arabia.”
While the amount of money being given to the popular fan has not been made public, many speculate it to be in the range of seven-figures.
In response to the hiring, Indianapolis, which previously made a deal with WWE to host Wrestlemania, has offered Green Shirt Guy a $25 gift certificate to Portillo’s.
