San Francisco, CA – Heavy metal giants Metallica have finally admitted that they once asked Hulk Hogan to join the band.
Following Hogan’s passing last week, drummer and unofficial band leader Lars Ulrich confirmed the long-time rumor that they wanted the former World Heavyweight Champion to fill their ranks.
“Yeah, y’know, we’ve denied it for so long because we were embarrassed,” admitted Ulrich. “We were just kids and here comes in this super hero to jam with us. We were just in awe of this guy as he ripped through “Whiplash”, “Seek & Destroy” and “Creeping Death”. It was unbelievable.”
Lead singer and guitarist James Hetfield also confirmed the often-ridiculed rumor.
“We just couldn’t keep up, yeah,” said Hetfield. “Overqualified doesn’t even begin to describe how good Hulk Hogan was on bass, yeah. The schedules just couldn’t be worked out when he was wrestling 400 days a year, yeah.”
The unlikely pairing has shocked both music and wrestling fans at what could have been.
Rumors of “Macho Man” Randy Savage joining Megadeth have yet to be confirmed.
