The Tale of Marcus the Maniac (Co-Starring Terry Taylor)

Marcus the Maniac Terry Taylor Morgus the Maniac

Today we discuss a match involving Terry Taylor taking on a Maniac, Marcus the Maniac to be exact. At least that’s who I think he is?

Now Terry Taylor, him I know. This would be the poor sap whose career never truly recovered from his horrific run as the Red Rooster in the WWF. Want to know how bad that was? We ranked it the number one worst gimmick in pro wrestling history (and consider the ground THAT covers) in the WrestleCrap Book of Lists!

Facing Taylor would be MARCUS THE MANIAC. Well, that’s what the chyron says. Throughout the match the announcers refer to him as Morgus the Maniac and I HAVE heard of him. By golly, he was number 500 in the 1992 PWI 500!!

So we get in the ring and Taylor takes him down as Arn Anderson is in an inset threatening to end Taylor’s career for, I dunno, reasons.

Meanwhile Taylor appears to be having all kinda of issues doing much of anything with the Maniac. I love Marcus’ tights here – it looks like he just got off his shift at the plasma donation clinic. Haven’t seen anyone wrestle in scrubs since the hey day of Norman the Lunatic!

The Maniac does he best to be maniacal, and Jim Ross and Bob Caudle notice it, with Ross theorizing that he’s probably been through some shock therapy. Do places still do that? If so, hopefully my insurance doesn’t cover them.

Terry lands a jawbreaker, one that is so powerful it causes the Maniac to cover his face as if it’s been covered in acid. Think Dent, Harvey. But with both sides, I guess.

Taylor wraps things up by hitting Marcus/Morgus with the Five Arm. See, it’s one better than a fore arm. Eh, makes sense – Taylor was ranked #39 in the PWI 500 in 1992, so he definitely should have won this one!
