The Hart Foundation Gives Us a Pink and Black SQUASH of the Week!

Hart Foundation

From the first time I saw them, I thought the Hart Foundation were the coolest cats around. I remember seeing Bret Hart and wanting to pattern my entire look after him, always wetting down my moppy hair to somehow, some way, look something like “The Hitman”. I mean sure, my body was more Jim Neidhart (sans muscles), but I just loved Bret. Watching them squash geeks on Superstars and Wrestling Challenge was always fun, so let’s dive into one of those today, shall we?

And here we have our victims for this encounter, namely Jim Powers and Jerry Allen, a couple of high quality jobbers if there ever were. Likely you remember Powers from his stint with Paul Roma as the Young Stallions, but check out Allen here – full of fire and vinegar, ready to take on the world. Will they be successful here?

Hart Foundation

The Hart Foundation is there with their manager, Jimmy Hart, and in his first ever appearance with them, new co-hort Danny Davis! Ah yes, the evil referee who helped the Harts win the WWF tag belts from the British Bulldogs, who now himself was going through a metamorphosis to become a wrestler. In fact, he would wind us as the Hart Foundation’s partner at WrestleMania III no less, taking on the Bulldogs and Tito Santana (and pinning Davey Boy to pick up the win for his team!).

So the match gets started and we get Bret quickly beating the stuffing out of Powers before suckering in Allen and dropping him with an atomic drop. Meanwhile, Davis gets an inset promo wherein he promises a BIG SURPRISE at WrestleMania. I think that one went the way of the Can Am Connection’s big surprise at that show, meaning it was dropped and never brought up again.

Hart FoundationBret tags in the Anvil, and he drops Allen on the top rope like it was nothing. He then bulls him into the corner and tags out to Bret.

Hart Foundation

The Hitman gives him the most delayed backbreaker ever (seriously what was the deal there Bret?) before slingshotting Neidhart over the top for a two count. I legit thought they only did that in their later run as babyfaces, but apparently not.

Hart Foundation

But this being classic Hart Foundation, we get the finisher we all know and love – the Hart Attack. Not only was that a great finisher, it was maybe the best name for a signature move ever. Got a better one? Let us know in the comments below!
