For those of you too young to have seen it (or those old enough to have seen it and forgot about it), Celebrity Deathmatch was a show on MTV about stop-motion Claymation celebrities fighting each other to the death. You’d get matches like Mariah Carey vs Jim Carey, Oprah vs. Rosie O’Donnell, and other similar nonsense. It was extremely late 90’s/early 00’s edgy. And you know who else fits that bill? “Stone Cold” Steve Austin as commentator/enforcer/whatever.
Improbably, the show lasted 6 seasons, produced a video game, and is now streaming on Paramount+. It was also popular enough for a shirt to be made featuring Claymation Steve Austin proudly holding up a skeleton. Again, late 90’s/early 00’s edgy.
Maybe it’s just me, but I think it’s funny that the first half of his catchphrase and the second half is all caps, followed by his signature. Like the first part is quiet, the second is loud, and the final is fancy. It’s the little details, right?
