Another month, another PPV upcoming with AEW Redemption. Pretty sure we can all agree that since the Kenny Omega title win got pushed up, this show is now kinda pointless. But if you’re gonna give me Young Bucks vs. Will Ospreay, I’ll be there for it, even if Moxley is shoehorned into as well. I pretty much despise Sunday night PPVs at this point, especially 15 hour PPVs like Tony loves to run, but at least we get the courtesy of this one starting an hour earlier than normal. If you want to join the fun, head on over to my old man social media and I’ll be there giving my two cents the whole way. Until then, let’s open the mailbag and see what y’all got for me.
Mike M kicks us off with…”Thoughts on the TNA episodes of Dark Side of the Ring?”
I thought they were interesting, but the fact that Dixie wasn’t willing to participate makes it very one-sided. It’s a shame, as I honestly would have loved to have heard her side of things. My only guess is that she has walked away from all this and decided her life is way better without ever revisiting wrestling.
SPEAKING OF walking away from wrestling, Arya W wants to know…”Do you ever wonder what your life would have been like if you never launched WrestleCrap?”
My first instinct at first reading that question was to post a wacky Simpsons meme where I was celebrating all the extra time I would have had doing anything other than watching stupid wrestling. But I’d never want a life without the incredible friends I’ve met courtesy of this site. Blade, Quake, Jordan, Art, Bryan, too many to name. The other stuff like doing books, conventions, that kinda thing has been fun. I mean, I’ll never forget when “Rowdy” Roddy Piper had me as a guest on HIS show. That’s all cool, yet it pales in comparison to the friends I’ve made.
Rob N. continues the fun via…”You had a good relationship with John Tenta (RIP) in the early WrestleCrap days. Was there ever another wrestler you wanted to have the same type of “relationship” with (such a strong word, but I can’t think of another term)?”
I just wish I’d have had more time with Bobby Heenan.
Dan T ponders…”What do you feel is is the early frontrunner for the Gooker award?. For me, it’s depressed Johnny Gargano!”
I would have to think the WrestleMania night where it as like 54% commercials is near the top of the list.
James C asks…”RD is promoted to head writer of WWE. What are your first actions to fix this mess of no stories and useless matches?”
I’d bring back Vince Russo.
Joseph follows up with…”Have you seen JCW Lunacy yet? BRO!”
Not complete shows, but I keep up with it. Lunacy is aptly named, I will say that for it. I’d love to see this madness get more exposure.
Jarvis G with the age old question…”What is your favourite World title belt of all time? For me, it’s the 1988-1998 Wing Edge belt. Albeit smaller than the WCW World Title, I found it more distinguishable.”
For years I thought it was the winged eagle until I did this induction, now I guess I’d go with the Big Gold Belt that Flair brought out in the late 80s.
Derrick G wraps us up with…”Thoughts on the current situation with the death of physical media. (A Real Deal promo on Sony for bonus points) How do you feel it will affect the industry over the coming years? I posited that SEGA has the opportunity to cater to physical media fans and mount the greatest resurrection since Jesus walked from the tomb on the third day”
I mean, yeah, I hate it. The issue isn’t so much that I don’t have something physical in my hands it’s that what I am ‘buying’ now from Sony isn’t even a purchase, you could hardly even classify it as a rental. The fact they can yank it away from me at any given time makes it a total disaster. I view what I have with Plex as the ultimate solution honestly – a hard drive I load up with Blu-Rays I rip and store on my own media. If it was something where Sony let you download to your own device and you had it perpetually, that to me is the only acceptable solution. As for a Sega comeback, as much as I’d love a sequel to the Dreamcast at home, I’d far prefer OutRun 3 for the arcade! The best racing game ever truly deserves a sequel!
And that will do it for this edition of the Mailbag. Join me for Redemption and keep sending those questions in rightchere!
