The Yeti

The Yeti

Kevin Sullivan’s Dungeon of Doom pretty much told the tale of everything wrong with WCW in the mid 90’s. It was made up of a collection of misfits and bad gimmicks, but there was one that stood head and shoulders above all others: The Yeti.

Now unless I missed a mythological studies class, I was under the assumption that a Yeti was an abominable snowman. I could be wrong, but that was what I was led to believe. Imagine my horror when WCW unleashed a Yeti FROM A BIG BLOCK OF ICE and he turned out to be a huge mummy.

Read that again: WCW unleashed a Yeti FROM A BIG BLOCK OF ICE and he turned out to be a huge mummy.

Did someone really think this was a good idea?

Perhaps the best part of the Yeti’s WCW stay (aside from Tony Schiavone calling him the Yet-A (like Grand Master Sexay, I suppose) was when he and The Giant (now WWF’s Big Show) double teamed Hulk Hogan at Halloween Havoc.

They did a double bear hug that looked for all the world like The Huckster was pulling a train.

Hogan never looked better.
