Crapper Art0Donnell sent this my way.
I hated that this stupid, annoying, nonsensical catchphrase took off, and I hated even more how the WWE shoved it down our throats.
And of course, the fans kept chanting it long after Austin stopped using it and stopped appearing on TV. Aggghhhh!
I agree with you Big Cheese. Enough with the What chants already.
This chant has ruined countless good promos.
The ONLY time I liked the “What?” chants was the promo where Stone Cold scared off Stephanie Mcmahon with it. Other than that segment, the “What” chants should just go away already. It’s more annoying than funny. Plus, they contribute absolutely nothing during promos.
hahaha, i punched out at the 4:00 mark.
WHAT?
Signs you’re an aging wrestling fan #73: Complaining about “What” chants
This is about as clever as when a 3-year old child thinks it’s funny to repeat every word you say. And it get’s old just as fast.
The word what sounds funny now that I’ve heard it 10000 times in a row.
Yeah, kind of like the word “hamdinger”.
I don’t know what “Hamdinger” means, but I will now find a reason to insert it into a conversation everyday this week!
Atta boy!
It gets even worse when you realize Austin (and the guys that used it after him) were leaving pauses in their promos so the humanoids (tm. Bobby Heennan)… I mean WWE fans could insert the “WHAT?” into their promos.
They’re not humanoids or wwe fans. They’re the wwe universe!
What was going on at the end with that dude getting (literally) pissed on? Has that been inducted yet?
Yeah, I remember that foolishness. Poor Arn Anderson.
It was around that time when I was thinking about quitting wrestling for good.
And no…I don’t think that’s been inducted yet. The sooner they do, the better.
Looking at how yellow Steve’s urine is, I think he better get to a doctor ASAP. While he’s there he should get his hearing checked. I think too many times being dropped on his head caused him some major hearing loss. That’s the only explanation I have for why he keeps asking “what?”
I think the “WHAT!?” chants have become associated with the Great Khali over the past few years.
No wonder Stone Cold gave up on the WWE. The “creative” team at its finest..
Screw all the “what?” haters! Fans generally don’t chant what these days unless they’re bored by the promo in question. The “what?” catchphrase suited Austin’s psycho character perfectly, its maybe just a shame that some crowds do over use the “what?” thing too much. Along with the nWo and 3:16 t-shirts, the “What?” t-shirts were one of the best sellers in WWE history – it was over with the fans, deal with it!
What? I said deal with it!
