Murfreesboro, TN – An armed robbery of a local convenience store was thwarted after patrons believed the robber was actually a WWE Superstar on his way to interring in a match.
The culprit entered the Gulp-N-Grind on Robert Neyland Avenue at 7:32 last night, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black boots, and a black mask. Brandishing a knife, the would-be thief demanded money from the register and all customers inside the store.
Footage captured on security cameras showed not a scene of chaos, but of fans mistaking his outfit for that of secretive wrestler.
“Oh wow, it’s Seth Rollins!” said 27-year-old wrestling fan Buck Sherwin.
“No way, it’s Austin Theory!” countered Sherwin’s friend, 25-year-old Heather Crumwell.
“Are you sure? It could be a completely new wrestler joining The Vision,” offered store clerk Sam Raqua.
The balaclava-wearer repeated his demands for money, but was rebuffed as the patrons asked for selfies and autographs. Frustrated with repeated questions about why he kept interrupting WWE matches over the past few weeks, the criminal quickly escaped out the back of the store.
While his attempted robbery was unsuccessful, the masked man was awarded a try-out match next week in OVW.
