Smyrna, GA – Masked lucha libre legend La Parka disguised himself as Diamond Dallas Page during a live workout of DDPYoga earlier this week.
The “Chairman of WCW” led a Halloween-themed class, focusing on deep stretching, dynamic resistance, and the use of a chair for modification. Despite wearing his iconic luchador mask, none of the participants recognized that it was not DDP leading the class.
“I really didn’t think anything was off,” said DDPY instructor Haydn Walden. “We use chairs. We say ‘Make it your own’. I just figured Dallas was getting into the Halloween spirit.”
“DDP counts in Spanish all the time during our workouts so nothing really stood out,” agreed instructor Josh Nair.
The switcheroo was a plan by La Parka over 20 years in the making. Page famously dressed in La Parka’s skeleton costume on an episode of Monday Nitro to defeat “Macho Man” Randy Savage. The luchador pulled his own switch as a bit of fun payback. Despite the change, both La Parka and the participants got in a good DDPY workout, noting that most of them stayed in the “Green Zone” the entire time.
“I thought it was a little odd when he picked up the chair and started playing it like a guitar, but I figured that was just Dallas being Dallas,” said his wife and fellow trainer Payge McMahon Page.
“Let me give you the 411,” said La Parka. “This workout is one for me and one for all my DDPY Warriors! Diamond Cutter! Hulk it up! Atención!”
