Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Wrestling fans were shocked this past Saturday when Kit Wilson’s theme song “Man Up” was declared the winner of the Royal Rumble.
While many expected competitors like Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, or Bron Breakker to win the event, this marks the first time music has won.
Much like Joe Hendry and Fandango, fans have really taken to Wilson’s music, increasing his standing within the company. The infectious tune, with its jangly guitars and popstar vocals, has made a star of the former member of Pretty Deadly. WWE took notice and decided to “strap a rocket” to the song and push it to the moon.
The literal audible was called mid-way through the match. Seeing the lackluster reaction from the crowd, Triple H instructed referees standing ringside to inform the remaining wrestlers of the new plan. “Man Up” played throughout the temporary arena as wrestlers tossed themselves over the top rope and onto the floor.
Those in attendance who were allowed to, danced along, even doing Wilson’s trademark triple bicep flex in time with the music. Fans happily sang along, ignoring the nonsensical conclusion and ticket prices.
Despite not participating in the Rumble, Kit Wilson jumped into the ring at the conclusion of the match. Lifting a tablet that was playing his theme song on a 12-hour loop, Wilson then triumphantly pointed the electronic device towards the Wrestlemania sign. Fireworks exploded over the hastily built stadium and TKO executives congratulated each other for a job well done.
Fans are hopeful that Kit Wilson’s music will face Living Colour’s “Cult Of Personality” at Wrestlemania.
