Back in 2000, Universal Studios teamed up with WWF to hold auditions for the park’s Hallowe’en Horror Nights. And who better to judge what is truly horrifying than Brother Love himself, Bruce Prichard?
Yeah, that’s kind of a weird choice, but then again, so is posting a clip from this with minimal explanation. Luckily, the video from the Associated Press of all places, comes with this helpful description:
American horror fans are in for a real fright this Hallowe’en, courtesy of a spine-chilling union of the Universal Studios Theme Park and the World Wrestling Federation. Following the success of WWF wrestler ‘The Undertaker’, the two organisations have decided to mix wrestling with some new faces for the fun park’s Hallowe’en Horror Nights.’ 25 terrifying souls have been picked from hundreds of blood curdling wannabees by a panel of judges from Universal studios and WWF. They will join the superstar muscle men in a few weeks, to provoke as many screams as possible from willing fans. But judges are keen to remind fans that while the best horror actor can make your hair curl, the world of professional wrestling would still be out of reach. That hasn’t put off the finalists, some of them working stuntmen, to get ready to give their best and up the chill factor.
So they’re not getting in the ring for the WWF, but there is a ring behind them, they’re cutting wrestling-related promos, and there’s some fighting. Oh, and someone gets lit on fire. Okie dokie then!
