It’s a good way to discover forgotten promos, referenced matches, and, in this case, highlights set to music. Here we have the mighty and underappreciated Jos LeDuc terrorizing the ring set to the strains of heavy metal. Honestly, it’s a good fit because he’s big….and burly…
As we know, these wrestling music videos can be worse.
Much has been written about the pairing of Cyndi Lauper and Captain Lou Albano, so there’s not much need to go into again here. Whether it was Captain Lou appearing in Cyndi’s music video for “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” or Cyndi Lauper appearing at Wrestlemania, the duo helped boost both WWF and MTV in their own ways.
The two teamed up once again for this Public Service Announcement about Multiple Sclerosis. I love how Lou says they’re going to “smash ’em, kick it, knock it off the face of the earth.” We really need more promos cut on chronic diseases.
It’s been a few years since AEW released their first video game, Fight Forever. The reviews ranged from eh to meh. Looking back at the official trailer released by Playstation, you can kind of see why. The graphics are somewhere between Playstation 2, pay-to-win mobile games, and night terrors. The selling point of “Do you remember the days when you used to just pick up a video game and play?” doesn’t inspire much excitement. And seeing just how vastly different the AEW roster is from then to now is surprising. But hey, it’s not like it lost the company $30 million or something like that.
Jerry Lawler’s Discount Furniture sounds like a bit on Wrestlecrap Radio, but it was really a thing. Here’s the commercial to prove it. Whenever a new TV show or movie is set in the 80’s, they like to play up all the bright colors and neon, but the truth is that a lot of the 80’s looked liked this. It was lots of browns and yellows like what you see here. How much do you want to bet that there is someone (RD?) in Indiana right now with one of those hideous couches still in their living room, proudly declaring that Jerry Lawler himself sold it? With prices like that, it’s furniture fit for a king!
Move over, Steven Flowe. We’ve got a new favorite indie wrestler gimmick: BIG MAN TATER! And he has a microwave on his head! I bet his moves are hot and crisp. I can only hope we get a future stable with him, Curry Man, Hotdog Starkes, and Cheeseburger. Delicious!
In their time away from wrestling, Ruby Soho and Angelo Parker were married, had a baby, and opened their own wrestling-themed board game cafe. The duo went onto their local news to promote the delightfully-named “Victory Roll Cafe“. If you’re in Mishawaka, Indiana any time soon, I’ll join you for some snacks and a round of Stratego.
