I wonder how many food fights, food-based matches, and um, food-based wrestling promotions actually exist. It has to be a lot, right? Like, way more than we think. I’m not really sure why. It seems very wasteful. A good example is this WWE 4th of July food fight. Did it need happen? Did it need to eat up (pun intended) so much television time? No, but I’m sure it delighted exactly one person and that was enough.

What does it have to do with the 4th of July? Nothing, really. But hey. all your WWE favorites are here: the Vaudevillians! Breezango! The Shining Stars! The Social Outcasts!

Hmmm. Now I kind of feel bad for the food for being involved in this.

The blatant product placement, commercials, and shilling in the middle of WWE events has become the norm over the past few years. It’s not just on television, it’s on the PPV’s…I mean PLE‘s too. Some try to cleverly shoe-horn their way into backstage segments or even matches. Others are practically shoving the product in your face like this Pizza Hut commercial in the middle of Fastlane 2023.

Xavier Woods, in his official Pizza Hut jacket, joins Michael Cole and Corey graves at the commentary desk to show off the Big Dinner Box. My stomach clenches as they go wild for fast food pizza and boneless wings. They each take a bite, but the video cuts off before we can confirm that the food was actually ingested.

Big Braun Strowman likes to eat and he has thoughts about pineapple on pizza about pineapple on pizza. I know some people have very intense feelings towards . I’m not one of them. If you like it, enjoy. If you don’t, there’s plenty of other options for you. Of course, I’m not telling that to Braun. Whatever you say, sir. Please don’t make train noises at me.

Bron Breakker is an incredibly athletic Superstar, but even he needs a little pizza every now and then. Specifically from Pizza Hut. Of all the pizza joints in the world, that’s what he chooses. I mean, I don’t want to question Bron’s food choices for fear of him spearing me in half, but Pizza Hut may not be my first choice. Who knows. Maybe Bron was part of the Book It program.

When he arrived in the WWF, Dusty Rhodes worked all sorts of odd jobs to show how he was the common man. One of those included delivering Americana Pizza. While some may question the wisdom of making a former NWA World Heavyweight Champion an average blue collar shmo, you can question giving Dusty a shirt with “PIZZA” written in Sharpie. I bet you could sell those on Pro Wrestling Tees and make a pretty penny.
