As you likely expect, the Outrunners are one of my favorite tag teams today. Their completely over the top throwbacks to all things 1980s is the kind of outside the box thinking we need to freshen up the wrestling landscape. If someone had told me they were going to add a third person to the group, I would have screamed no as loud as I could, believing that this duo was just fine the way it is.
I was wrong. So very, very wrong. And I am very willing to admit the folly of my bias, as the idea of the Outrunners teaming up with DALTON CASTLE of all people is pure genius.
I mean, just look at this entrance, with the Outrunners in all their glory being arguably UPSTAGED by the absurdity that is Dalton Castle. Watch closely in the background and you will see one of The Boys clapping wildly out of sync. You’d think that would be a detriment, but honestly it just makes it better. Let’s go break some hearts indeed!
Then they get in the ring and somehow it gets even better, as you can tell these three are in awe of each other. I…I don’t even know what to say.
Their opponents don’t stand a chance. And usually I’d be 100% behind a guy who has the audacity to dub himself COWPOKE PAUL.
We get in the ring, and the Runners start laying waste to these geeks with their usual assortment of Crockett era tag team tactics. It doesn’t take long for poor Cowpoke to head back to the range and the big guy to come into try and turn the tide.
Of course that doesn’t happen, as Dalton picks the big guy up with ease and tosses him like a salad. And then it’s a triple spin for the win. Give them the six man, the men’s tag, the not yet announced but you know they soon will be women’s international ROH tag team championship. Dig up Mr. Miyagi and give them the $3.99 JC Penney canvas belt. These men need to be champions immediately!
