Terra Ryzing Squashes The Road Dogg!

Terra Ryzing Paul Levesque Triple H WCW

In the history of pro wrestling, there have been a lot of terrible ring names. Today’s example? TERRA RYZING.

Yep, Terra Ryzing. Like seriously, I know folks always like to say Paul Levesque is the smartest man in the history of wrestling, but if you allow yourself to go to the ring being announced as that, I’ve gotta say that disqualifies you from such a moniker. Anyway, here’s our pal Triple H before he hit it big in the WWF, flexing and preening during a WCW Worldwide taping back in early 1994.

His opponent would be one Brian Armstrong. And yes, that would be the guy who would become Road Dogg. DX collides in WCW baby!

And what a contest this is, as Terra flips his hair left and right then goes for a lock up. He has great hair you know. And if you didn’t, trust me, after this match you will. Once the action actually starts, we get arm wringer after arm wringer. Whose arm will be wrung the most? Only one way to find out!

But it’s not just arm wringers, as we also get shoulder blocks, leap frogs, and an ARM BAR. This is less a match than day one of wrestling school here on national television.

Terra takes control by reversing an Irish whip, then hitting Armstrong with a “flying” knee. I put that in quotes as Levesque barely left his feet here. However, that does cause him to once again show us how strong he is. Not sure why you’d flex after a knee based maneuver, but who am I to question “The Game”.

Not quite a backdrop follows, along with several elbow drops, as well as a flying elbow. No quotations there as at least he did get some air there.

The aerial assault continues with another elbow off the second rope. He’s no Randy Savage, but you know, it looked ok I guess.

A tilt-a-whirl backbreaker allows Terra to fully take control and lead to the finish, a wacky WACKY submission maneuver (maybe an Indian deathlock?) that he doesn’t seem to know how to apply. Not to worry though, as Armstrong also didn’t seem to quite know how to sell it. Can you believe that in less than five years time these two would be a couple of the biggest stars in the entire business? There’s a lesson to be learned there kids. No matter how crappy you may be today, NEVER GIVE UP! (Also, take good care of your hair and flip it a lot.)
