WCW Sting Starrcade poem shirt 1

WCW Worldwide Blog owner Bryan was sent this unreleased WCW Sting shirt from the artist who drew it.

It was going to be made to promote the Sting/Hollywood Hogan match at Starrcade ’97.

I’m really torn with this one, Crappers.

On one hand, the artwork is very nice and I like the black/white/grey/purple color combination the artist went with.

So the front of the shirt looks awesome!

On the other hand, the back of the shirt features that stupid whiney emo poem that the kid read when Sting carried around the vulture at that one Clash Of The Champions in 1996.

(For extra fun, read this in your best Torgo impersonation voice).

Did Sting spill Dr Pepper on his keyboard or something?

That reads like something a moody 15 year old girl would write in her diary in the middle of 5th period English class!

  1. Paul R. from Spook Central: The Ghostbusters Companion says:

It’s kind of neat that the purple letters in the poem, when read from top to bottom, spell out the sentence “Hogan will fall at Starrcade”.

  2. John C says:

“Dear diary, my so called best friend Lex doesn’t even believe me anymore, so here’s a poem. Roses are red, violets are blue, you didn’t trust me so phooey on you.”

I had forgotten what an ABSOLUTE rip-off of the Crow this gimmick change was …

Also, the “black heart of the Sandman?” Was this before Fullington joined WCW?

    • Chris V says:

Yes, it was before he joined WCW.
It wasn’t setting up that Sting vs. Hak “dream match” that everyone was waiting for. I think that was what ECW Sandman went by in WCW….Hak.
I never knew that was what they said in that prologue.
I thought it was “black heart of the madman”.

Also, yes, this was so much a rip-off of the Crow.
I could see something like this being recited as a voice-over in the Crow movie.

Whew, I forgot how Raven-y Crow Sting could be sometimes.
