WCW Mark Jindrak Basket Case promo photo

Hey, remember when Mark Jindrak had a basketball player gimmick in WCW, and he was called “Basket Case”?

Yeah, me neither…

He did make it to TV with this gimmick for a few weeks in early 2000 on WCW Saturday Night, but under his real name and not the “Basket Case” name (so I guess it only ended being half as stupid as it could have been…).

But here’s a nice glossy 8×10 promotional photo of him with the gimmick for you to admire and cherish.

Thanks to Bryan at The WCW Worldwide Blog for being a big help researching this gimmick. Go check out his amazing WCW blog!

  1. Sean Bateman says:

One of his first matches on Saturday Night was against Reno, when Reno was under the moniker Rick Cornell

  2. Down With OPC says:

If Mick Foley never became Mankind, Basket Case could have faced Head Case.

  3. John C says:

If only the Invasion angle worked, because we could have had a Survivor Series dream team consisting of: The Basket Case, Abe “Knuckleball” Schwartz, The Goon & Barry “Hole in One” Darsow. However when it comes to Basket Case I will stick to the one that involves Belial thank you very much

  4. Matt Soileau says:

I thought this was common knowledge. Then again, I read a ton of Apter Mags as a teenager…

  5. Thomas Moffatt says:

I think this might have lasted longer than his Reflection of Perfection gimmick…

  6. Peter says:

Yeah, I remember the basketball gimmick, and thinking that wrestling was running out of ideas for characters.

  7. Gouki says:

I actually went to a Harley Race WLW show in California, Mo (yes there is a town named California in Missouri) and Jindrak wrestled as Basket Case. Reno, Chuck Palumbo and Mike Sanders was there too. This would have been before they got the call up to WCW. I talked to Palumbo for about 15 minutes and he was super chill. I asked him about Scott Hall who’d been missing from tv and asked if he knew when Hall would be back. He told me he’d be back in 2 weeks. I told Palumbo he’d have a fan for life if it was true, and it was. Let me tell you, the early Billy and Chuck days were rough for me…. ^_^
