You could get this NWO Souled Out 1997 t-shirt on back in 1997 to commemorate one of the worst Pay-Per-Views in wrestling history.

Or, you could opt to get the much cooler plain NWO logo t-shirt like everyone else bought.

I’m guessing you went for the latter option.

Pac looks to be modeling a child’s medium there…

I wonder if Sean-Pac’s tee shirt was made in Chyna.

anyone ever notice that if XPac shaved his beard he and Chyna would just about look identical?

The one-word that best describes that PPV: Interesting. Yeah, quality wise, it really sucked, but you have to give credit to going with a completely different concept. It sucked, but will be remembered for at least being different, while the majority of WCW PPV’s and most of the WWF shows from 1996-97 were just forgettable.

I agree. It was worthy of an induction, but at least it was memorable.

      Nice username, BTW. 🙂

I’d label Souled Out an “interesting failure.” The idea of a PPV ran by the heels was such a cool, cutting-edge concept and I like the “Bizarro World” feel of the event. The matches sucked, as did the Miss nWo contest, but the look and feel of the show was great, I thought. It had lots of style, but no substance, and that was why it failed.

The biggest mistake of the show was having the nWo have their own refs, which made it seem like they couldn’t lose, so why buy the PPV? It also made the nWo seem like they needed help to win, when before (besides Hogan) the members were dominant–they would cheat, but they would cheat themselves, not have refs award them matches.

They actually didn’t win any of the big three title matches. Hogan and Giant went to a no contest, Randy Anderson came in and gave a 3 count for the Steiners giving them temporary control of the tag titles and Eddie Guerrero beat Syxx in a ladder match for the U.S. Title.

I have the 1998 Souled Out T-Shirt & was there live. As far as the 1997 nWo Souled Out, after the failure of the “nWo gets its own show”, what did they expect when they tried nWo Monday Nitro, and even considered making it nWo Nitro permanently? Then again, this is WCW we’re talking about.
