Hello Kitty New Japan Pro Wrestling NJPW shirt 1

Crapper Robert Coot sent in this news article about New Japan Pro Wrestling selling Hello Kitty crossover t-shirts.

This is the understatement of the year, but man; Japanese culture sure is weird.

I bet they’ll sell out in no time.

Rumored plans for a TNA/Mr. Sparkle crossover shirt are unfounded at this time.

  1. Trench Reynolds says:

My granddaughter loves Hello Kitty. This would blow her mind.

  2. Jay "The Brain" Mann says:

Sadly it looks like they’re sold out of the one I want (the first one– can’t resist the NJPW tiger eating Hello Kitty!) in my size.

  3. Autrach Sejanoz says:

Wouldn’t mind that first shirt at all, to be honest.

  4. John C says:

Does this mean in 6 months Eric Bischoff will come up with an original idea to sell these shirts but put NWO on them instead.

  5. Anonymous says:

Lame. The two just don’t mix.

    • "The Big Cheese" Paul Kraft says:

That’s the genius part- in Japan, the audience for NJPW and the audience for Hello Kitty probably have a huge crossover.

      • Anonymous says:

I had almost forgot that the wrestling audiences in japan aren’t as disproportionately male as they are in America (and most of the west in general). So I guess they’re banking on the female segment of the audience buying into the unconventional branding.

  6. Quincy Hughes says:

Truthfully? I think those are a brilliant marketing idea for Japan.

    • Quincy Hughes says:

Actually that came out wrong. For the Japanese culture, of which Hello Kitty is a huge part, I think this is a brilliant marketing idea. These things could sell like crazy and maybe even bring in new fans who could think it’s cool to be an HK and an NJPW fan.

  7. AK says:

Well Mattel is a sponsor of the WWE and Mattel owns Barbie so..there’s a crossover just waiting to happen.

I’m pretty sure they’d just slap something together, make John Cena wear it and watch the money roll in.

  8. big says:

Hell, I would wear the first one.
