You know, Doink The Clown was such a great heel character at first.
Ah, but then they had to ruin the character by turning him face and giving him a stupid midget sidekick named Dink.
Anyway, here’s a promotional photo of Doink and his Mini-Me.
I wonder where they got those tiny little clown boots for Dink? Do you think they had to have those specially made or did they pick them up at Payless Shoes or something?
Exactly when did the backlash against them begin and end with them being gone? I stopped following wrestling for several years in mid ’96, thats why I ask. When did they first start showing and playing the “KILL THE CLOWN” signs and chants? And did he ever get his ass kicked by a heel or an antihero? I would have loved to have seen that!
911 in ECW…
I think I read somewhere that the “Kill the Clown” chants occurred in ’94 at The Slammies, I’d guess they’d have started a bit before then considering Doink turning face in Autumn ’94 if I remember correctly.
I don’t think his appearance at the 1997 Slammys did him many favors…
Dink was WWF/E’s equivalent of Scrappy Doo… hmmm, could Wrestlecrap induct Scrappy Doo? (or as I called him Crappy Poo…)
What, no love for Wink and Pink?
