Poor “YouManga” (Regal’s pronunciation of the name was always funny)
Regal simply pronounced Umaga the correct, non-Americanised way.
Ironically, from what I can gather, he was the only one who pronounced it properly (Samoans tend to pronounce “aga” as “anga”, at least according to someone who mentioned this in a wrestling magazine I read who mentioned a rugby player as an example of someone else with a name with that sort of spelling).
I did not know that about Samoan pronunciation as I personally don’t know any Samoans. That’s a cool tidbit of info though.
They let Fatu speak (when he turned face to “make a difference”) and I thought he was much less cooler because of it.
It was always hilarious to me that the word Umaga is Tagalog for “Morning.”
I immediately thought of Angyong [sic] from “Arrested Development” when I read that.
