The newest episode of WWE Warehouse features Ted DiBiase’s Million Dollar Belt and an interview with the person who helped create it!
Dig the amazing vintage vignette footage of Ted DiBiase in his fantastic evil cape! How cool is that?
Oh sure, the belt is awesome and mighty impressive looking, but WWE spent $40,000 on it in 1989!
$40,000!!!
You’re telling me they couldn’t have had a much cheaper belt made from less expensive material that looked just as good?!
What if the belt had been stolen or gotten lost?
And why couldn’t they bring Ted himself in to host this segment?
The title holds prestige as being the one and only title that WrestleCrap favorite Virgil ever held in WWE.
To put it in perspective, $40,000.00 in 1989 is equal to $76,884.84 according to an online inflation calendar I used. That’s still a lot of money for one belt.
True, but the price of the jewels and gold have to be considered as well.
I think Steve Ausin recently said in his podcast that when he had the title under his “Ringmaster” gimmick, the belt always fell into pieces?
That wouldn’t surprise me.
Didn’t Virgil say the belt was really worth $28 million or some other ridiculous amount?
Virgil is also the biggest bullshitter in the history of wrestling.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we see the Million Dollar belt on eBay soon enough in a “Someone Bought This”. They need the money these days.
A beautiful classic item from WWF history.
I assumed most of those were Cubic Zirconias. That classic, cheaper knockoff of the diamond.(Fugazis!) Nice to know there are few real stones in there somewhere though.
Probably my fav belt! I was and still am a huge Million Dollar man mark (Or would that be Billion Dollar man with inflation?).
They forgot or choose not to mention that Ted Dibiase Jr. was also the Million Dollar Champion.
Very nice looking belt.
