This was a shameless ripoff of a Game Boy commercial that was airing around this time, as I recall.

Possibly my least favorite PPV ending ever was Uncensored 98. Hogan vs Savage in a cage match that ends when Savage leaves. Savage didn’t win by escaping, he simply left, there was no winner and the show ended.
Oh man, Scott Keith’s rant on the show makes that main event outcome sound absolutely brutal!

At least trash was the only accurate word in the commercial.
It was a shameless rip-off. I remembered it all too well. I mean, this commercial had clips of Syxx in it, when he was just about one month away from going to WWE. WCW tried their best to sell this PPV every year, and virtually every year it was worse than the next….according to popular belief…

Thank you for describing this as a Game Boy commercial. I also remember the commercial you were mentioning, and I distinctly remember it being for a Game Boy Pocket. When I saw this WCW commercial back in the say, I instantly recognized it as a similar sounding commercial.

So, WCW in 1998 decided to rip off a Gameboy Pocket commercial from 1994?!? The braintrust at WCW were *so* hip and with it. That said, if it were Vince, he’d have ripped off an ad from 1978!!!
