Are you familiar with the Chris Hamrick Bump?

I enjoy watching Dolph Ziggler’s matches because he takes some pretty sick bumps. But he has nothing on this one. I’ve probably watched this one 100 times and it’s never failed to crack me up.

Wow! Never seen that before, but it got a laugh out of me.
Reminds me of when Wile E. Coyote would run over the cliff in an attempt to grab the Road Runner.

Alberto Del Río has done this a number of times, too, but never this spectactularly.

Hamrick also took a Hamrick bump against Tatanka a few months earlier.

Awesome! I can’t quite figure out what Tatanka (Buffalo) was trying to do, though. “This little piggy”, maybe?

In 2006 I had the pleasure of seeing “Confederate Currency” Chris Hamrick live at a Mainstream Wrestling event in Newfoundland, Canada. He did the Hamrick Bump…onto a hockey arena floor…no mats. It wasn’t even during the main event.

He was in the main event later and as he walked by slapping hands I told him to “get some juice from these jobbers.” He smiled and in the main event, which was under ECW rules, he certainly did. I was the only one chanting “He’s hardcore” as the rest of the crowd were in shock he cut a guy open with a pizza slicer. Earlier, everyone was doing “EC-Dub” chants…but when the time came, the fans were squeamish…except me 🙂

My impersonation of sympathetic ECW crowds, “YOU F’D UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU F’D UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Hamrick was not an anonymous jobber in WWE as I thought when I saw the clip.
Almost had careers in ECW and WCW as well. his wiki entry was pretty harsh.

Man, main event had him slice someone open with a pizza cutter. Really don’t mourn the fact that mainstream wrestling has moved away from that.

It’s one of the reaons I don’t go to indy shows a friend of mine helps run. You see one guy gig himself, you’ve seen ’em all….

    • Ryan says:

Wiki: He was best known for his suicide attempt in 2010.

    • Walt says:

Yeah, during the event he was hyping up his stint in ECW. I’m glad to hear they moved away from garbage wrestling. I’ll admit, in 2006 I was into it…but in the last couple of years I have really started to appreciate old school and catch. Even during the hardcore match, Hamrick was busting out some neat submission holds.

    Thanks everyone.
