Doink’s first heel theme and character were awesome.

Then he turned face and we got this…

It’s a nice whimsical variant on the traditional screamer march “Thunder and Blszes” more commonly called “Entrance of the Gladiators” ,either one would be decent titles for entrance music to begin with, but I can agree with one thing it wasn’t as good as it could have been. I mean farm animals instead of elephants as part of the sound effects. Really?!

that’s weird. I was just about to identify the song as Thunder and Blazes and someone beat me to it.

    Kill the clown.

Well turning Doink face wasn’t necessarily a good idea, I think had he remained a heel but went with this as his music it could have been interesting.

Matt Borne really went above and beyond with the character and the change from a dark tune to something much more lighthearted and whimsy would have added a different element to his character. He still pulled a lot of the same shenanigans when he made the switch, just instead of provoking the faces he went after the heels.

Make fans believe he changed because of the the music but instead he could have kicked up the heel persona a few notches. I think he would have played the role of the scary clown even better this way.

I dont think Doink turning face was as much of a problem as Matt Borne no longer playing him. IIRC Borne was face Doink for a few weeks, feuding with Jerry Lawler and starting the feud with Bam Bam Bigelow. and it wasnt horrible. As soon as Ray Apollo played him, and ESPECIALLY when they introduced Dink, oy vey.

Here’s Borne as Doink right around the time he turned face.

Just think, in some bizarro alternate universe this could have been Ric Flair’s music had he listened to Jim Herd

Still better than either Bella theme.

a stupid theme for a stupid clown with a stupid manager. Did I say stupid already?
