Crapper Paul S. submitted this commercial and writes:
I don’t know if you ever did this one. I love that the whole premise of the commercial is built around Austin being unprofessional in the ring. Oh yeah and remember what life was like before everyone had mobile phones, and having to awkwardly spell 1-800-Collect on a payphone was actually a thing? Yeah I’m old.
You and me are both old, my man! Some of you Crappers are probably too young to remember when long distance calls actually cost money.
I always thought this commercial was really funny, too.
Thanks for the submission, Paul.
I certainly still remember this commercial. Also, does anybody else get a vibe that Austin and D’Lo are acting like they could be, you know, a pair? It just seems so funny.
By the way, I feel old, too. Cellphones existed, but they were mainly phones, not the next generation of two-way palm pilots (Like how text messaging is these days), music players, etc.
Yes, they are arguing like an old married couple. heh.
Hey I submitted this on tuesday!

Well; you put it in the comments section which is great, but I don’t always get a chance to read the comments. If you really want me to see something, email me at paul@wrestlecrap.com with the link and whatever text you want me to include.
But yes; you did post it in the comments before Paul S. emailed it to me; if that’s important to you. 🙂
It is important to me 🙂
I will email you first definitely
Thanks! It’s the best way to make sure I see something, which greatly increases the chances of me posting it. 🙂
I, too, am old enough to remember the awkwardness of 1-800-COLLECT on payphones. I also used it to call this girl I knew in Jersey from home. They’d send bills… occasionally. I think that, besides cell phones, the reason companies like this went out of business was because they hardly ever billed their customers hahaha
Okay, I’m an idiot. What I was thinking of were those 10-10-321 sorts of companies. D’oh!
This was one of the first things I saw when I started watching wrestling in 1999. I thought D’Lo Brown was one of the top guys thanks to this commercial.
D-Lo’s best promo ever.
“1-800-COLLECT: dial it, or an angry redneck in a speedo will kick your ass!” Still one of my all time favorite comercials from those guys, though.
I too remember the days of 1-800-COLLECT (and the aforementioned 10-10-220). Was that really 20 years ago?
Fun ad that takes one back.
I completely forgot about this commercial. It was pretty funny.
