15 years ago today we lost Owen Hart in a senseless accident.
I don’t have to tell you Crappers what an am amazing wrestler and all-around great guy Owen was.
Instead, I’ll share one of my favorite Owen Hart moments of all time.
This is from the 1994 Royal Rumble.
After turning on his tag-team partner Bret Hart in a match with The Quebecers and causing Bret to lose the match, Owen Hart cuts his first heel promo… and flubs his big line.
This never fails to make me laugh because it shows that sometimes we all mess things up from time to time…
It didn’t matter- Owen was still an outstanding heel and I still miss his workrate and promos today.
I maintain this promo was some sort of rib.
It really does sound like he flubbed the line to me.
My brother and I, 20 years later, still make fun of the flub, but still loved the whole angle and their matches. Sometimes an accident can be a good thing. Still makes me smile and laugh.
Apparently, the original idea was for Bruce Hart to turn on Bret?

Did the WWE rush Owen, and would he be better off if he first won the tag titles with Neidhart and the Intercontinental title before feuding with Bret?
I think everything worked out fine in the end. Tagging with Jim wouldn’t have gotten Owen anywhere as a face anyway.
So good, it was the intro to Maffew’s first Botchamania.
He left a true legacy behind that we get a kick out of.
I think he came off as a guy so angry that he wasn’t making any sense. It was funny yet seemed real at the same time. I would take this over an overly produced generic promo anyday
Looking back on it I enjoy Owen’s work as a heel, it seems like there was a period between the New Foundation/High Energy & the 93 Survivor Series where they were trying to turn him into a generic imitation of Bret. This allowed him to really come into his own. It’s just to bad he was never awarded the WWF Championship for his efforts.
