It Came From YouTube: Matt Hardy IS High Voltage!

From 1993, here is Matt Hardy’s entry tape into the WCW Amateur Challenge.

The WCW Amateur Challenge was a contest where wrestlers sent in tapes to get a shot at training at the Power Plant.

He gives himself the name High Voltage.

His promo skills… needed some work.

And by “some” I mean “a whole lot”.

But someone at the WCW Power Plant liked his moniker and decided to give it to an up-and-coming tag team.

It’s had to make the distinction of regular WCW and what Amatuer WCW is because mainly everything WCW did seemed amatuerish. Does it always seem like when someone points to their own head while talking about their mental attributes they look really stupid. For having anything to do with High Voltage Matt does deserve a lifetime of being on the midcard yeah they sucked that bad.

Still better than Roman Reigns. (Sorry. Had to.)

How much does this guy weigh?

After reading High Voltage’s wiki page it occurs to me either they wrote most of it themselves or somewhere there is a High Voltage superfan lurking.

    He looks like Johnny Cage.

    At least Jeff wasn’t Willow.

Very average. He definitely got better at promos. Kind of trying too hard in this one.

    That was indy-tastic.

Matt Hardy 1.0 Fact: WCW took this gimmick to create the tag team of High Voltage. The static electricty attack was original though…
