Check out Kurt Angle’s debut with Power Pro Wrestling mere months before his debut at Survivor Series ’99. Interestingly enough prior to his debut one of the main criticisms that Kurt was facing was a lack of charisma. Judge for yourself.

And here he is in a championship match with J.R. Smooth. Smooth (not to be confused with Jay Smooth – is the former “Making a Difference” Fatu and the future Rikishi.

Nice vest, Kurt- you look fabulous…

While I’m not the biggest Angle fan (he always seemed like a B+ player to me despite what some fans will say) he was a little shaky because he was green on the mic but he definitely showed some charisma here.

Seeing how normal Kurt looked there compared to how puffy and sick he’s been looking for a few years now makes me sad.

I wish pro wrestling would go back to a mat based style with the finisher being the one big impact move.

Maybe then guys wouldn’t have to take roids and painkillers to recover.

Look at Karl Gotch. There’s a video of him on YouTube when he was in his 60’s and he is doing handstand bridging and dips. At 60 Gotch looked healthier than Angle at 40.

Wasn’t this the show that Doug Gilbert infamously shot on?

    • Jimbolian says:

That is correct sir. Doug Gilbert was cutting a promo on Brian Lawler (aka Grandmaster Sexay) until things turned south quickly when he starts yelling his dad Jerry raped a girl (this being in reference to Jerry’s 1993 criminal indictment of raping a 15-year-old in which the case got dropped because the victim said she lied.)
