WCW Magazine Presents The Best Of The 1990's VHS video tape 1 WCW Magazine Presents The Best Of The 1990's VHS video tape 2

From the WCW Worldwide Blog comes this gem of a video tape.

In 2000 if you subscribed to WCW Magazine you could get this The Best Of The 1990’s tape FREE!

It features 7 solid-to-great matches.

The catch? Each match is edited down to about 5 minutes!

The entire tape runs for 40 minutes including “Bonus footage of the women of WCW”.

They could have easily put all the matches on this tape unedited, but they decided not to, because…. WCW.

This is such a typical WCW thing to do- take something that’s great and screw it up for no reason whatsoever.

How can the Jarrett vs Benoit match be the best of WCW when, if I remember, the ladder rungs came off the ladder?

    • Vince B says:

Not to mention the fact that there’s a fantastic Benoit vs Jarrett vs…Sting? triple threat match from an episode of Nitro that they could have probably used instead!

“Edited for your enjoyment” that really shows the WCW lack of respect towards it fans. We want to eliminate all the pacing and craft of a match cause you dummies just want to see your “wrassling” fancy moves. So be happy with the 40 minutes or otherwise you get our Dungeon of Doom, Oz, and King of the Road tape instead and it won’t be edited for your enjoyment.

I have this tape, and i also have a t-shirt from WCW magazine plus i believe a Sting keychain. They were giving away all sorts of stuff with their magazine.

This entry was actually written on my 35th birthday. Probably how I missed it *hic*!

I had this as well, it was sold in the UK in HMV stores for £3.99. I quite enjoyed it for what it was.

I do remember there being a mistake at the end though, when Tony is reading out the WCW Magazine subscription number and a completely different number appears on screen.

Wow, RE: the WCW Magazine number, that’s such a “WCW thing” for them to do…

Ah, this tape. Still have it in a box somewhere. I remember flipping through a WCW Magazine at the store in 2000. Saw this tape advertised without mention of the run-time and that it was EXCLUSIVE. So I got my mom to buy me the magazine and let me send in for the year subscription. Tape came, I watched it and was pretty disappointed, but took a bit of solace that it was EXCLUSIVE (which I later found was only for the US).

But better than the tape, since WWF bought them out within the year of ordering this, I ended up getting half of a year or so of WCW Magazine, the crappy tape and then a full year of WWF Magazine for the same price. They had offered an option for a partial refund or WWF Magazine, but since most of the year was through, I figured I’d get at least 6 months of WWF Magazine. But when the woman called about it, she said they only offered year subscriptions and I’d be signed up for that.
