The thing is, Jim had every reason to believe that it would be a bust. Vince took a huge gamble with WrestleMania and if it hadn’t paid off, it would’ve sunk the company.

How have I missed looking at the epic tweets for so long? They’re fantastic. WrestleCrap gives me yet another reason to never want to leave the site.

  3. Raven7309 says:

Isn’t Jim Crockett in the WWE hof? I’ve watched a couple of WWE dvd’s where he was interviewed: The Rise and Fall of WCW and Starrcade: The Essential Collection, and I was just curious.

This reminds me of a story (off topic, I know) of when Robert Shay of New Line Cinema was trying to sell the first Nightmare on Elm Street movie to Frank Mancuso Jr. (the guy who produced all of the Friday the 13th films). They watched the movie together (Shay had already made it, but was trying to sell it instead of releasing it, just to make some money). Mancuso told him that it was a flop, and that no one would buy a film that took place in ‘Dreams’. Years later Shay would run into Mancuso, and thank him, for saving him around 300 Millions dollars (what the Nightmare Franchise made over time).
