Someone Bought This: WCW Whiplash for the handheld game system

WCW Whiplash game

Tiger’s system (you’re supposed to call it “Game Com” and ignore the period in the domain name) was one of the worst handhelds ever. It was big, clunky, expensive, poorly supported by developers, and the games were lousy.

And we almost got a WCW game for it!

WCW Whiplash was announced for release (I’m guessing it was supposed to come out sometime in 1997), but never released.

I imagine that Tiger knew the writing was on the wall and decided it wasn’t worth spending the time on developing the game.

So, technically nobody bought this, but I just had to bring this obscure unreleased WCW game to everyone’s attention.

With annoying commercials like this:

where they literally call their small base of potential customers idiots, I can’t imagine why people didn’t want to buy it…

So was that the ‘devil’ version of Hornswoggle?

  2. Peter says:

Oh yeah I remember this thing. When I was a kid I read Sports Illustrated for Kids and they had an advertisement where you could tear out a paper version of the handheld, so I guess you could see how big it was or something. I guess the real life version was just as worthless, it was just heavier. And that commercial, wow, horrible. One of the few times WCW actually caught a break.

  3. Wrestlecrap's Janitor says: is more like it.

Imagine the graphics of a B&W a heavier package!

The’s graphics were technically better, but the Game Boy has it beat in terms of playability by a long shot.

I’m sure surfing the web on that thing was a wonderful experience.

Sad. Had this game came out, it would’ve saved WCW from financial ruin…just like the nWo Christmas ornaments now found on eBay.

  6. Bob Holly says:

I got a Game dot com with 2 games 3 years ago for free. It is an interesting handheld but most of the games suck.
