Tag Team Title Wave VHS tape

This is a VHS tape of matches from the AWA called Tag Team Title Wave.

Get it? “Title Wave”.. because.. it’s like “Tidal Wave” which is big and powerful. How witty!

(Okay, snark aside that actually is kind of clever).

Take a look at the four guys they decided to feature on the cover.

There’s one wrestler that stands out as not quite having the same levee of stardom as the others (here’s a hint- his name is “Jim” and he’s related to, and formerly tagged with Bret Hart!).

I wonder who (insert “Who” joke here) decided to put him on the cover?

Am I the only one reminded of this song from Sesame Street?

Oh AWA, you gave us joy with VHS crap. One day the fans will sit down and play your shitty VCR game. Oh wait! One did and his name is Spoony!!!

  2. Sean O says:

Macho Man’s face on that VHS tho…

  3. Brownie_the_3rd says:

So on a video presumably about tag team wrestling, they feature 3 men on the cover not known for being tag team wrestlers…

    • Doc 902714 says:

Hold it right there Brownie. Hulk Hogan & Macho Man were the greatest tag team of all time known as the Mega Powers. and Rick Rude was tag team champion with Raging Bull Manny Fernandez in some NWA territory. The real question you should be asking is when did Savage, Rude or Neidhart (except Hogan) ever work for the AWA?

      • Brownie_the_3rd says:

I’m not denying that they have done tag wrestling of note in their careers, I’m just saying that isn’t what they’re known for. And having a look on wiki says that Savage, Rude and Neidhart all worked for CWA which was affiliated with the AWA so technically you could say they worked for the AWA

  4. Conquistador #3 says:

Level of stardom perhaps, but Rude is the only one on this cover who doesn’t look like the cocaine just kicked in.

  5. tom says:

I believe that both Rick Rude and Randy were both Southern Heavyweight Champions (an AWA affiliated title) early in their careers. Neidhart was just with CWA a short time and then I believe he humped to Watts. Manny and Rude were tag champs in either mid-atlantic or Georgia. But man alive that shot of Savage is scary – I’d hate to run into him in alley

  6. Chris says:

Macho Man looks like William Riker on steroids.
