It Came From YouTube: The Freedom Fighters are here, and they look kind of familiar…

We’ve had a lot of tributes to The Ultimate Warrior this week so in light of what happened I thought I’d share what may very well be the first TV appearance of Jim Hellwing and Steve Borden. You may have heard of their run as the “Blade Runners” in Mid-South but prior to that they were part of “Power Team USA” a stable of bodybuilders turned wrestlers. Then they made their way to Memphis where they had a brief run as “The Freedom Fighters.”

Wow! I’d never seen this before today and I bet a lot of you Crappers hadn’t either. Very cool!

This falls under the category of “Not strictly WrestleCrap, but just an interesting piece of history”.

I had always assumed they debuted as The Blade Runners. Very interesting find!

The Warrior looked uncannily like Lou Ferrigno back then
