It Came From YouTube: Lex Luger and his patriotic bus are coming to your town!

Ah yes, the failed 1993 push of Lex Luger as Hulk Hogan 2.0.

WWE sent him out on a bus to malls and arenas to kiss hands and shake babies (Wait… Strike that. Reverse it) but it didn’t exactly catch on.

Did any of you Crappers get to meet Lex on this tour?

My cousin met Luger. He showed up at a mall in Michigan.
I made fun of him because we were in high school at the time.
This was during the run-up to Summer Slam ’93, held outside of Detroit. We were both there, enjoying one of the worst Summer Slam events!

Darn, if only more people had answered the Call to Action Campaign, Lex might’ve beaten Yokozuna for the belt.

I seriously think the Luger Bus was legit awesome. Great way to get him over with the fans.

I never got to meet him but I was actually one of the marks who believed that Lex deserved the belt over Bret at the time.

I believe that Scott Keith summed up the entire “Lex Express” perfectly in his book “The Buzz on Professional Wrestling”: “The intent was to create Hulk Hogan version 2.0. What we got instead was Jim Duggan version 2.0″ :-P
