“Oz: The Great And Powerful” had a great opening weekend so that gives me the perfect excuse to post this clip from 1991′s WCW Great American Bash of Kevin Nash as Oz taking on Ron Simmons!
Ted Turner owned the rights to the 1939 movie and so WCW decided to take advantage of that by naming a wrestler after The Wizard Of Oz from the book/movie.
How this was supposed to get Nash over remains a mystery. Mostly it just made him look like a bearded emerald-clothed idiot.
Oh, and he had a little helper (?) who walked with him to the ring for no reason.

As a side note; the book “The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz” is really great and I’d highly recommend it if you’ve never read it before and if you’ve only seen the classic movie based on the book.
The commentary alone is worth giving this one a view i shake my head every time j.r trys to build kevin nash and the guy in the black tank top at the end is overly excited about this high offense match coming to an end

At the 6:30 mark: “It appears Oz is limping a little bit.” “Of course, Jim. He’s blown his quad again.” Hey, I love Kevin Nash, dude is entertaining, but that was a Tee Ball shot.
In the book and movie, Oz does a face turn after being a cowardly and boastful heel. I guess that makes the wrestler Oz a heel?
