It Came From YouTube: John Tenta is not a fish!

John “Earthquake/Avalanche/Shark” Tenta finally sheds all of the stupid gimmicks WCW had branded him with, and decides to wrestle under his own name.

It’s probably the most memorable thing he did during his entire run in WCW, and I think it’s a great little moment for John.

I’d like to think that it was his idea to say the “I’m not a shark! I’m not a fish! I’m a man! John Tenta! A 500 pound man!” line because he was fed up with being given all of these crappy gimmicks by people in WCW who had no idea what to do with him.

From the threads I read on the old board, he seemed really cool to know.

I love the crack at Marc Mero and Vader at about the 3:21-3:36 mark..

I remember watching this and going “It’s about damn time!”. John should have shaved the rest of his head, gotten a “lean and mean” attitude, and just wrecked the mid-card. I think a US title run would have been awesome for him, and could have lead to him taking back his main-event status he had in the WWE.

RIP John. Your Wrestlecrap buddies still remember you, and always will.
