It Came From YouTube: Hulk Hogan’s Punch-Out! Erm.. I mean “Main Event” video game review

This is a review of Hulk Hogan’s Main Event for the Xbox 360.

It’s basically a bad Wii Punch-Out clone with some minimal Hulk Hogan branding sprinkled over it.

Do everything Hogan says, or you lose. You have no control over your destiny.

Just like in the TNA locker room, brother!

On the other hand, it’s cheap… so if you want to buy a copy and support WrestleCrap in the process, here you go!

Spoiler Alert: Hulk Hogan is an asshole.

That’s the first thing I heard when I realized my mute button was on. Other than that, the “reviewer” sounds like your typical 20 year old fanboy. He spends more time reviewing Hulk Hogan, as if he made the game himself. “Boo hoo! Hogan didn’t put TNA in the game!” It really sounds like Brad Maddox is reviewing the game, he’s that bad at his humor.

I’m all for bashing a bad game and it looks terrible, but other than Hogan signing off his likeness, he had nothing to do with the game. I can’t see why basing half a review on that fact seems relevant. Instead of a steady stream of everything about this game stinks, it became “Hogan knows 2 moves, why couldn’t he put TNA in the game, etc. etc., oh, and uh… this game sucks.”

I used to review games. And by that I don’t mean that I made YouTube videos of my opinions like this assclown, I mean that I was an actual “gaming journalist” for gaming sites.

In my (formerly) professional opinion this game looks like SHIT, but the review itself is even worse by several orders of magnitude.

This is low quality reviewing even for a YouTube video. Some of the people that gaming sites hire can barely speak english, yet they do a better job of forming intelligent sentences about the quality and content of games than this “reviewer” does at any point in this video. I was cringing just listening to him rant like a 12 year old smark rather than review the game properly.

And I thought I went on tangents. Oh well, pretty typical classicgameroom.com near as I can tell.

  5. Mister Forth says:

That game should be one of the symbols of putting a likeness on an almost unrelated product.

  6. John Matrix says:

This game was in the Wal-Mart $10 bins about a month after it released.

  7. Matt Soileau says:

Who is this 14 year old that’s reviewing this? No thanks.

  8. Greg says:

I actually thought the opening statements about Hogan are some of the most true things ever said about him, as were the rest of the comments.

It’s pretty much the same tired smark clichés that only people who know infinitely less about the business than they think they do even bother regurgitating.

  9. Rafique Tucker says:

The thing is, if this guy was interested in a real review, he should have followed the example of Game Informer, who did a serious (hilarious) review of the game a while back. However, as it’s been said, his only interest is bashing Hogan. Look I’m a Hulk Hogan fan for the most part, so I’m biased, but hating on Hogan doesn’t make a review. That being said, the game is garbage–it’s the worst thing involving Hulk Hogan and a :main event” since Hogan-Warrior II at Halloween Havoc’ 98.

I wish Mark (co-founder of Classic Game Room) himself had reviewed this, rather than passing it off to the undertow guys. I don’t even watch that stuff. :p
