It Came From YouTube: Enter The World Of The Ultimate Warrior

This is from the infamous “Self-Destruction Of The Ultimate Warrior” DVD.

It makes me laugh every single time I watch it. Chris Jericho is absolutely hilarious here.

The Ultimate Warrior sure did have… um… unique promos, didn’t he?

Warrior makes Dr. Lector look like Mr. Rogers. Why are Canadians so funny? Is it Brit by association?

  2. John says:

“And as I climb upwards to the top of the bouncy castle the forces that hold us down will keep the warrriors on a path to the exit doors. And then you decide to get a smoothie or a frozen yogurt.. SNARRRRRRRRRRRRLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Christian’s impersonation was perfect.

  3. Bone White says:

I thought he was going to sing “Rap Trap” by the Boomtown Rats there for a moment….Good quote at the end there

  4. Alan says:

Warrior was horrible in retrospect, especially his disastrous run in ’98 in WCW.

    HOAK HOGAN! SKRONK!

I used to love the hell out of this guy when I was younger. Now, though, as I’m older and things have come to light, he’s not only one of the worst workers ever to disgrace the ring, he’s just a weird/bad person in general. I think what I hate most about him was how he was pushed to go over SO many guys that had spent years proving that they were genuinely skilled wrestlers and legitimate threats in the ring, but he just walked over them all like they weren’t even there. Hell, even Hogan would take a little offense from his opponents from time to time. Honky, Rude (oh man, looking back, the way they put him over Rude was just so damn shameful), Savage, Andre, Hennig, DiBiase, you friggin’ name it, he squashed them all. He was the prototype for Goldberg.

In my younger days I was a big fan of Warrior as well but in retrospect, yeah, he was pretty bad in the ring.

And by all accounts he was pretty bad outside of it too. ;)

What most people don’t know, is that compared to his modern day “letters” he writes on the internet, his promos were short sweet and actually coherent.

  7. "The Big Cheese" Paul Kraft says:

If WWE released a 2-disc set of nothing but Warrior’s promos and interviews, I’d be all over that like white on rice! I really do love the Warrior’s promos just because they’re unique. They’re kind of like poetry… albeit poetry that is being screamed at me.

  8. BaltoJim says:

The next time someone asks me how I’m doin’, I’m gonna tell them “NIGHTMARES ARE THE BEST PART OF MY DAYYYYYY!!!

I knew that I had heard Rybags snorting act before, but I just couldn’t remember where. Now I do…

  9. Cameron A. says:

The Ultimate Warrior, as a character, is as close as wrestling gets to a Jack Kirby New God.

Too bad UW, as a talent, had Rob Liefeld levels of dedication to his craft.

  10. Sharpe Puppy says:

I view Ultimate Warrior’s promo style as equivalent to the lead guitar solo styles of Jeff Hanneman/Kerry King.

  11. TMS says:

Knowing what we know now about the Ultimate Warrior, you have to wonder what went on before and after the cameras rolled for those promos. He’d never make it in the WWE today, where pretty much everything the guys say is scripted, because nobody could write anything as insane as what the Warrior came up with off the top of his head (unless they let Christian write for him, that was pretty spot on).

Or maybe if they hired Spoony. If you’ve ever seen his impression of the Warrior he was pretty spot on too.

Paul Kraft, here’s something you have to feature! In the recommended videos after the clip you posted, it had this.

This is a tone downed Warrior, but it’s worth watching just to see Kathie Lee say “Hi Ultimate!” Regis trying to act like everything Warrior says is sensible is also great.

Also, Warrior looks like he could easily pass for a roided up member of a hair metal band.
