Happy Columbus Day/Canadian Thanksgiving!

Loved reading Art’s recent entry and saw in comments people asking for video footage at least of the infamous DDT parody title of the old WWE 24/7 Hardcore title. I like telling of this title on road trips since it’s quite the hilarious site what Japan can do with a silly idea.

First a quick little Wikipedia link for more info:

It’s got quite the list as noted on the link of who’s held the title and even some of the matches. Below are some links of clips or matches for said title. Enjoy and post what you wish!

This one features the infamous blow-up doll YOSHIHIKO which is an entry for comedy on its own:

Kota Ibushi who is one of my favorites from Japan got to face YOSHIHIKO too:

Some of the men and women who won the title:

When in ladder matches…it actually meant BEATING the ladder who was champ:

Yep ladders can be the champ, as can be animals:

It’s silly fun so do enjoy!

Fascinating… Thanks, Brian.

This is why no one watches japanese wrestling anymore.

  2. big mike says:

These videos are hilarious, a 25 minute match with a doll is more entertaining than 2 hours of impact wrestling.

While I prefer straight up Strong Style, Shoot Style and Kings Road, DDT and Osaka Pro have some light-hearted stuff that doesn’t take itself too seriously. I like this kind of humor. Was that guy who looked like the Joker in the Kana vid Poison Sawada JULIE? It looked a lot like Keita Yano.

  4. Hashington says:

Japan’s comedic stuff is pretty good. The Ebessan/Kikutaro matches where they make fun of ring psychology are also great.

“Oh my God look at that King he’s ripped his damn arm off!!!!! YOSHIHIKO!!! YOSHIHIKO!!! YOSHIHIKO!!!!” Russo must be killing himself for not having this as a pay per view main event with himself and David Arquette involved. Perhaps Yoshihiko could be a new love interest for Sack of Flour. This reminds me of all the Japanese Death Match tapes I haven’t watched in forever. Loved the spinning Yoshihiko spot like Terry Funk always does with a ladder. Time to watch a triple death trampoline of barbed wire piranha on a pole pool of fire and weed whacker on a stool barbed wire drill on a table match.

Interesting how Japanese wrestling is either the MOST SERIOUS EVER or the most totally batshit insane with seemingly nothing in between (unless you count lucha style is “in between”).

  7. Sean Bateman says:

you think this is bad. There is a DDT match called a No No DQ Match. Seriously. Go ahead watch it.

  8. THE Jeffry Mason says:

Thanks so much Art and Brian for posting these. Found out about this from an old SuicidalDragon top ten video during his comedy week. I Read the Wiki page and knew my fellow crappers would enjoy. Keep up the great work with this feature. And cross our fingers that Vince doesnt see this. I really dont want to witness The Cell becoming WWE Champ, no matter how “good for business” it would be

  9. THE Jeffry Mason says:

Paul i mean. Read Art in the description and forgot what i was doing. Sorry Paul!

  10. Walt says:

@ Sean Bateman…I watched it, it was funny.

Here’s a link to another Yoshihiko gem, involving Danshoku Dino and TAKA Michinoku.
