So during a the UWF’s brief run Herb Abrams apparently took umbrage at The Wrestling Observer newsletter. So he named a jobber “Davey Meltzer” then had Dr. Death Steve Williams squash him and shove a newsletter down his throat.

It was dumb, it was petty, and it went over most of the viewer’s heads but it made a point.

Unfortunately the hapless “Meltzer” stuck around and had at least one competitive match. Here he is taking The Black Knight as Abrams and a unimpressed Bruno Sammartino give commentary.

Man, this is the very definition of “petty and childish” on Abrams’ part…

Herb Abrams….is he the Burger King mascot from the 80’s and honorary timekeeper at WrestleMania 2?

  2. John C says:

Boy that Davey Meltzer sure doesn’t know a thing about wrestling huh. Herb would have liked to take that URL but for obvious reasons wasn’t able to. I thought listening to Ole Anderson talking smack to Meltzer was bad but this was outright playground antics. It’s really bad when hearing Abrams announce a match makes you wish it was Capt. Lou on the mic instead. Bring on the Wadey Keller vs Sunny Beach semi-main event match.

Ah, but only Bischoff was more creative enough to have Hogan burn a dirt sheet in a garbage can…

    “Observe this Brutha!!!”

I think that this Dave Meltzer was Herb’s revenge due to our Dave Meltzer at Wrestling Observer Newsletter gave him and his company four Worst Awards (1990 Worst Announcer, 1991 Worst Promotion and Worst Show and 1994 Worst Major Wrestling Show).

Seriously, when will RD induct some Herb’s UWF stuff?
