Straight from Doug Gilford’s Mad Cover Site here is the back cover to Mad Magazine Issue #272 from July of 1987 featuring Harold “The Killer Accountant”. That’s a full four years before Mike Rotunda came into the WWF with the very similar I.R.S “evil Taxman” gimmick! Do you suppose someone in WWF Creative was a Mad Magazine fan in the late Continue Reading...

From the 1990 Classic WWF trading card series comes this Barry Horowitz card. Remember, this was a full 5 years before he actually got a push from beating Skip. You Crappers know how much I love Barry (we’ve even featured his t-shirt in a past Someone Bought This!), but man; if I had gotten this card from some kid in Continue Reading...

Someone Bought This: “Free For All”? Well, you get what you pay for…

12 Submitted by on Mon, 21 July 2014, 02:00
In the mid-90′s, the WWF would air a free match on the Pay-Per-View channel before a Pay-Per-View would start, to entice you to buy the event. They called these free matches “Free For All”. Get it? ‘Cause they were free… for all! What they often were not, were very good matches. This VHS tape put out by Coliseum Home Video Continue Reading...

On May 13th, 1989 “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan defeated Haku (who would no longer come with crown) to become the true King of the WWF! WWF Magazine celebrated this a few months later by putting Good King Duggan on the cover of the September 1989 issue! As Mr. B. Natural would say; “He’s a Happy King!”. He looks like the kind Continue Reading...

Bryan over at The WCW Worldwide Blog had a pretty funny comment about the cover of the upcoming “OMG! The Top 50 Incidents In WCW History” DVD/Blu-Ray… Pretty amazing that a release all about the most shocking events that took place in World Championship Wrestling would have two McMahons on the cover. You can view the contents of the DVD/Blu-Ray Continue Reading...

TNA is selling bibs for boys that say “Future World Champ” and for girls that say “Future Knockout”. Aren’t parents supposed to aspire for their kids to do things they can be proud of?! Someone Bought This: The Man They Call “Sunglasses”!

Say Hello to “Sunglasses”. That’s his name! Well, I assume it is, since that’s the only thing approaching a proper name on the package. Actually, this is a weird bootleg of the Sabu figure from the ECW Toymakers line, packaged together with a pair of cheap sunglasses. At least you’ll have U.V protection as you wear your awesome shades on Continue Reading...

Someone Bought This: WWF Superstars cereal (with free flip book!).

11 Submitted by on Mon, 07 July 2014, 02:00
I found this article on WWF Superstars cereal. Ralston’s cereals were always pretty good (Remember their Batman cereal?). The WWF Superstars cereal box helpfully says: SPOONSIZE SUPERSTARS HINT OF VANILLA. ARTIFICIALLY FLAVORED. SWEET, BUT NO PUSHOVER. Wait a minute… “Sweet, but no pushover”? I get the cute wrestling wordplay, but I don’t even understand what that’s supposed to mean in relation to Continue Reading...

Someone Bought This: A very timely and topical Earl Hebner shirt from TNA

I’m not going to rehash The Montreal Screwjob from the 1997 Survivor Series here, Crappers. You know the story by now. You also know that Earl Hebner was the referee who called for the timekeeper to ring the bell during the “screwing” as instructed by Vince McMahon. That happened in November of 1997. As of this writing it is now the Continue Reading...
